COMPLETES ITS 1000TH
METER INSTALLATION

Manchester based Energy Consultants UB Services has completed
its 1000th meter installation with a further 2000 in the pipeline.
The company which was founded by brothers Paul and Andrew
Fannon 20 years ago identified a need for a support service for
the installation of gas and electric meters. This can be a cause of
delays in the completion of a development which in turn results in
additional costs to the developer.
Paul commented that “When meters are not fitted on time
developers will inevitability miss completion deadlines and in
addition to the financial implications, delays can also result in
damage to a contractor’s reputation, third party interests and the
loss of good will, losses which are not easily quantifiable”
The process to ensure meters are installed on time and to
the correct legal specifications is time consuming and can be
complicated. If it is a new installation the developer will have to
arrange a Meter Point Administration Number (MPAN) for electricity
and a Meter Point Reference Number (MPR) for gas, they will also
need a Meter Operator Agreement (MOP). It is not possible to
enter into a contact with an energy supplier until this process is
completed. UB Services will complete this process and arrange
dates and times on behalf of the developer to ensure metering is
completed within agreed timeframes. This leaves the developer to
concentrate on its bread and butter business.
