Jonathan Charles Fine Furniture was founded
by Jonathan Sowter, a master cabinetmaker and
craftsman. Living in Vietnam for over 15 years,
Jonathan established his high end factory, Vietnam
Furniture Resources, and launched the Jonathan
Charles brand in 2004 with only a few designs
and a handful of craftsman.
His vision for the brand began with a focus on
exquisite antique reproductions using traditional
age old techniques like marquetry, decorative
hand painting, eggshell, églomisé, gilding, hand
carving, inlay, and many more. Designing and
manufacturing at his own facility was the only
option considering his meticulous attention to
detail and ensuring all aspects of the furniture
are of the highest quality. This standard it what
sets Jonathan Charles apart from the
competition.

These qualities have been instrumental in the
company’s success and have facilitated our rapid
expansion from 10 employees to over 2,000 today.
To accommodate for the growth and new projects,
in 2014 we relocated to Binh Duong Province, which
is one hour from Ho Chi Minh City. This allowed
Jonathan to further expand his OEM projects, as
well as entering the hospitality market, supplying
around the world.
