Although basements are

be rooms concealed under
the ground, this isn’t actually
always the case, a basement
does not have to be fully
underground, for example,
if you are planning a new
build in an area that is liable
to flooding, you could plan
the basement to be partially
above ground level giving
you the security that up to
this height your basement/
ground floor is watertight.
