The photography exhibition put together
by World-Architects.com, features case
studies of 50 new buildings from both
globally recognized practices to new
work from emerging young practices. This
exhibition will be a visual feast for architects
and designers alike.
The pop-up RIBA bookshop for architects
and designers, organized and run by
RIBA, will give visitors an opportunity
to browse and purchase magazines and
books touching on a particular area of
specialistion and interest.
TALKS PROGRAMME
Wednesday, 27th January at 15:00 Victor
Boye Julebäk and Erik Kolman Janouch
(both Kolman Boye), Sean Sutcliffe
(Benchmark furniture) and David Venables
(AHEC) will present the Rotunda Serotina
in London for the first time. They will
discuss the Scandinavian wood tradition,
the phenomenological qualities of the
American cherry and maples as well as the
ground breaking Life Cycle Assessment they
used to create the Rotunda Serotina.
This session will be followed at 16:30 by
Patrick Richard (Stanton Williams) and Tom
Dyckhoff, broadcaster and architectural
historian on the pros and cons of working
on projects in a variety of different
European countries.
At 18:00 RIBA organizes a talk on the
housing crisis in London with Anna Minton,
author of Ground Control and Reader in
Architecture at UEL, and Richard Blakeway,
Deputy Mayor of Housing in London, Land
and Property, Paul Karakusevic, Karakusevic
Carson Architects, chaired by Eleanor
Young, Executive Editor, RIBAJ.
The discussion aims to explore the extent to
which the industry can provide a solution to
the housing shortage, or are the problems
of the housing shortage more deep rooted?
On Thursday, 28th January at 16:30,
Christian Male (SimpsonHaugh) will present
‘Three buildings by the Thames. Followed
by Jason Flanagan at 18:00 who will
illustrate how designing for sound informs
the sophisticated and striking performance
architecture which Flanagan Lawrence
produces.
