Belize’s endangered coral reef populations are rapidly declining due to pollution, sedimentation and over-fishing. Working with our Belizean partners, we restore sections of Belize’s Great Barrier Reef by replanting and reseeding dying sections of the reef. We repopulate this fragile ecosystem with coral grown at a local “reef nursery.” By affixing these robust corals, they can thrive, reproduce and help bring the reef back to life. As a direct result of continued development, pollution and changing ecosystems, this turtle population is facing a decline. We combine our efforts with researchers and several expert biologists of Mersin University, working both in a turtle hospital and along the beaches. We see our hard work rewarded as the newly-hatched turtles complete a safe journey to the sea. COMMUNITY SERVICE 24
