From man’s perspective, beauty is a fascinating and irresistible concept: The human heart is capable of manifesting love to provide endurance to humanity in a dark and lonely world. The power of the heart is truly a miracle: it is a layered infusion of spirit accompanied by compassion, integrity of emotion and the will to serve. These are attributes rarely associated with a celebrity, but the aforementioned qualities only begin to describe the depth of this young woman’s heart and soul. We all at some time in our lives experience the ramifications of enduring a thunderstorm of personal suffering. At that moment of endurance, we would all be blessed to have a ray of light enter the room to offer some encouragement. We look all around us and sadly, no one is there to put their arms around us and give us hope. However, at that most desperate moment, some of us are lucky enough to turn on the TV and instantly experience a shining smile and effervescent energy that immediately lifts our spirits! Yes, you are right! That spirit is our beloved Ara Celi! Even in the depths of personal despair, if Ara Celi enters our hemisphere, the clouds of life open to reveal a bright light shining through an electric smile. Her heart is so big it cannot be contained in one space- and barely in one person! Simply put, when Ara Celi walks into a room, the emotional thermostat soars with such radiance it immediately erases any hint of darkness or sadness. Her smile and spirit are contagious; it is virtually impossible to feel badly while in her presence. This type of personal gifting is not only rare, but was bought with a price of great personal sacrifice. Even as a young child, Ara Celi had an understanding of exactly what God’s intent was for her life. Born into an impoverished family of six in El Paso, Texas, life was a test of endurance for Ara Celi’s young spirit. She always felt responsible for her entire family. As a little girl, she remembers lying in bed at night knowing she’d hear the desperate cries of her aching mother running away from the house and her children. Immediately, she would jump out of bed and chase her into the dark streets crying: “Ma-Ma…please stop! Please don’t leave us!” Her mother, crying in frustration, would turn in desperation and throw rocks at her daughter to chase her back into the house. Ara Celi just stood and cried: “Please don’t go Ma-Ma….please don’t go. Come back…please don’t leave us…we need you!” Eventually the rocks would come so close she would flee back Ara Celi just stood and cried: “Please don’t go Ma-Ma….please don’t go. into the house, retreating into her dark bedroom. Crying with a deep sadness in her belly, Ara Celi would escape into books and dreams of becoming an actress. Fantasy was her greatest gift, as it eventually showed her a path and manifested acting into reality. But through all the pain and heartache, the generous spirit and heart of Ara Celi would never allow her to hold a grudge or place blame on either of her parents: “They did the best they could at the time. They always loved us as I loved them. My father and I have a very close relationship now and I am extremely close to my Ma-Ma as I am with my siblings. Love cures a myriad of challenges and pain.” Those were bravely spoken words from a strong and loving heart. But we all know that children enduring long-term conflict between a troubled father and a deeply saddened mother, leave scars that can sometimes take a lifetime to heal. But in Ara Celi’s case, the scars of a wounded heart did not take a lifetime to heal; they actually facilitated the development of a 4 strong spirit and an astounding perception of what God’s purpose was for her life. Her desire to take responsibility for her family developed a strong character and led to a decision to never let sorrow determine her destiny.
