respect for others we can accept our differences and even learn from them. To develop this appreciation of our differences I would encourage you to find out about other people’s lives. Let me explain. Say you have someone in your class or club who has a different religion or race to you. Rather than judge them, why not learn about them? Ask them to teach you. Trust me, if you really listen – without judgment remember – you will learn so much. Also, why not take time to show respect wherever you are and notice the rewards? The beautiful thing about respect is that if you show it to others, it comes right back at you. When you are next out and about with your parents or carers try doing some simple things to show your respect for others – open a door for an elderly person, say please and thank you when someone serves you etc. Don’t take my word for it – try it! You can let me know how it goes if you like! HERE ARE MY TOP TIPS FOR RESPECT: ● Listen, talk, act and react respectfully to everyone you know and everyone you meet ● Drop your judgment of others ● Take time to learn about other people’s lives ● Put yourself ‘in other people’s shoes’ Finally, remember we are all humans. We all want the same things. We all live on a huge ball of rock called ‘Earth’, and from a distance we are all one. Notes 1 A microscopic living organism 2 United Nations.
