Aransas County The key private industries in Aransas County are retail trade, and accommodation and food services, each accounting for almost one in five jobs in the area. The sheer sizes of those two sectors highlight the importance of tourism for the community relative to other parts of the Coastal Bend. The housing industry appears to have stabilized from the last peak in 2005 when more than 250 new Annual Review of the South Texas Economy – 2014 Edition homes were built. During each of the two previous years, approximately 90 new homes were built.
