AQHA FEATURE: A SPECIAL MARE, A SPECIAL LEGACY- CHANCES GRANNY ROCKS Q-83337
Willinga Park 2026 Gold Buckle Campdraft Reserve Champion- Chances Granny Rocks Q-83337 ridden by Mark Buttsworth( second from left)
Blue Boons My Granny Q-61139 went on to become the foundation of Chance Lodge, producing numerous outstanding progeny. Remarkably, she produced only four fillies, with Chance Lodge retaining three of them for its breeding program. Among those daughters is Chances Granny Rocks Q-83337.
THE RIGHT CROSS
Chance Lodge had always believed in the potential of crossing the bloodlines of Blue Boons My Granny with Rockin W, and Chances Granny Rocks Q-83337 has proven that theory in spectacular fashion.
“ I thought the cross of Rockin W with Granny would be a great cross, and it has proven to be so,” Chance Lodge explained.
Chances Granny Rocks Q-83337 first made her mark in the cutting pen under Jason Leitch, where she demonstrated the cow sense, athleticism and trainability inherited from her exceptional dam line.
For Chance Lodge, finding the right rider to take her into the campdraft arena was equally important.
“ I felt that Mark Buttsworth would be perfect for her in the campdraft arena.”
That decision has certainly been rewarded.
A PARTNERSHIP BUILT ON TRUST
For trainer and rider Mark Buttsworth, Chances Granny Rocks Q-83337 is far more than another talented horse. She is a mare who has become incredibly special to both Mark and his wife, Bec.
“ Chances Granny Rocks Q-83337 is an extra special mare to both myself and my wife Bec,” Mark said.“ Her Reserve Championship placement at the Willinga Park 2026 Gold Buckle Campdraft proves that she is an A Grade mare.”
Preparation for the Gold Buckle was focused on maintaining the mare’ s fitness and strength while keeping her finely tuned.
