FEATURE: DONNA GRECH- THREE MARES ONE PASSION
The third, Southern Whispers IMP Q-95946, known as Caroline, was imported in 2020 after a friend suggested she reach out to Jennifer Stiens.“ I was looking for a going mare, and she turned out to be exactly what I needed.”
MORE THAN RIBBONS
With all three horses, Donna has focused not just on results, but on progress.“ With Clara, I don’ t show her yet, but I love watching her improve at every event, it has been so rewarding. She’ s getting stronger, softer, and more solid in her work— she genuinely loves her job.”
Bailey, on the other hand, has proven to be the easiest ride.“ It comes naturally to her. She gives me confidence that I can do it.”
Then there’ s Caroline— powerful, sensitive, and intelligent.“ She’ s made me a better rider. I have to be more aware of my hands, legs, and pressure— but I think I’ ve finally got it right … at least some of the time.”
All three mares have had standout wins at Nationals, Sizzler, and NPHA, but for Donna, it’ s not about the ribbons.“ What I’ m most proud of is when I improve on my last run— when I go out there and feel like I did my personal best.”
THE BONDS THAT MATTER
Behind every show ring success is a team— and Donna is quick to recognize hers.
“ I’ m so lucky to have my horses with Kane and Holly Skopp. They train and prepare them to perfection, and Holly is an amazing, patient teacher. We’ re a great fit. The way they train the horses makes it easier for them to adjust to me, and their support gives me real confidence.”
