HQ Insurance Open
Saturday ' s feature event saw the country ' s best horse & rider combinations battle it out with some outstanding runs . Lana Kelderman took the title on the family ' s ' Nu too Much ' on a 144.5 followed by John Wicks on ' Whiza Lil Cash ' and splitting third was Kate Elliott on ' Dunrufnit ' & Sarah Mammone on ' MPH La Revolution '. HQ Insurance ' s very own Maggie Johnston got the opportunity to ride her first reiner being on Peggy Salmon ' s super mare ' Dunrufnit ' who also had progeny in the Open Futurity !
Toprail Equine ' Michelle Halliwell Memorial ' Non Pro
Run concurrently with the Open class , the Michelle Halliwell Memorial Non Pro honours one of our very own reiners tragically taken too soon . Now in its 14th year , this class is the ' one to win ' for the leading Non Pro riders . Leading the pack this year was Sarah Mammone on ' MPH La Revolution ' earning her the perpetual trophy and the Toprail Equine trophy saddle to add to her third placing in the Open class . Following up the placings was Tyler Smith on her family ' s imported mare ' Plum Outta Town ' for second and Andrew Behren ' s entry ' Smooth Lil Step ' making a beautiful run to take out third in a big field of competition .
Onya QH & Mal Fishenden Saddlery Youth
The youth were bringing the heat with some very competitive runs being thrown down but Victoria ' s own Adelaide Osler put it together to take home the trophy saddle ahead of the other very capable youth riders . Reining Australia is excited to nurture our industry ' s future in these youth riders and we ' d like to thank Elastomers Australia for putting forward the free youth clinic early in the week and to those trainers for their time and expertise : Warren Backhouse , Shane Sainsbury , Ashleigh Backhouse & Errol Thomas .
Ranch House Australia Invitational Reined Cowhorse
The cattle worked well and the surface was on point thanks to the Thomas Arena Products crew making it a contest between an exciting invitational line up . Tamworth local Rob Leach gave an edge of your seat run on the imported mare Shirley Shiney holding out to take home the Championship . Close behind was Dan Steers riding Casey Karn ' s imported stallion ' A Shinin Texas Time ' ahead of Rob ' s other entry ' Hells Destiny ' taking out third . A big congratulations to all riders on showcasing their sport on this platform at the RA National show .
