ARTICLE BY: KYLIE R. MELROSE PG.17 Attunga, NSW rodeo cowgirl Brittany McVicar’s favorite thing about competing is the process of bringing a young horse along from scratch. Brittany says, “There’s nothing more rewarding than doing good on one you’ve trained.” r a c i V c M y n Britta NAME: BRITTANY MCVICAR MARITAL STATUS: MISS EVENTS: BARRELS AND BREAKAWAY ASSOCIATIONS COMPETING IN: ABHA - Australian Barrel Horse Association and ABCRA - Australian Bushmen’s Campdraft & Rodeo Association AQHA TEN Minutes... I just want to bring out the best of their abilities,” says Brittany. WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN A COMPETITION HORSE? “All my current competition horses are built different and move differently. I don’t think size matters, but I do prefer the quick footed, sensitive ones.” WHO ARE YOUR IDOLS AND WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT FROM THEM? My mum and dad (Helen and Vern McVicar) are my idols they have taught me more and given me more opportunities than anyone. I can’t thank them enough,” said Brittany.
