Attunga, NSW rodeo cowgirl Brittany McVicar’s favorite
thing about competing is the process of bringing a young
horse along from scratch. Brittany says, “There’s nothing
more rewarding than doing good on one you’ve trained.”

WHEN DID YOU FIRST START COMPETING?
Before I can remember.
TITLES WON: Mostly Junior titles.
PERSONAL BEST: My biggest win would have to be
the recent Patsie Holder Memorial Classic.
INTERESTS: Horses, what else is there?
HOW DID IT FEEL TO WIN THE CHAMPION TITLE?
“I’m still in shock. I have never won anything like that before.”
WHAT HORSE/S ARE YOU CURRENTLY COMPETING ON:
Full Throttle Ta Fame (Epic) PR-207, sired by Seconds Ta Fame (imp)
Q-64303- six year old mare, Rusty Roc (Harm) Q-56923,
a fifteen year old gelding. Sired by Traditional Roc Q-15316
and from Morns Dutchess Q-43649, and Bad Azz Morn (DC) PR-208,
a four year old gelding. Sired by Roc N Morn Q-49135.
WHAT MAKES THIS/THESE HORSE/HORSE UNIQUE
AND GREAT TO COMPETE WITH?
“Two of these horses we have bred on the family property
and the others we have had since a yearling. They all have
a lot of talent which makes them super fun to train and ride.”
FUTURE GOALS:
“I have a few young ones coming up that I’m really excited about,
so my goals are based around them. I just want to bring out
the best of their abilities,” says Brittany.
WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN A COMPETITION HORSE?
“All my current competition horses are built different and move
differently. I don’t think size matters, but I do prefer the quick
footed, sensitive ones.”
WHO ARE YOUR IDOLS AND WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT FROM THEM?
My mum and dad (Helen and Vern McVicar) are my idols they
have taught me more and given me more opportunities than
anyone. I can’t thank them enough,” said Brittany.
