he had in his string at the Marvine was the great mare ‘Stylish Martini’ who went on to win over $365k with Roger in the saddle. In 2011 Rob and Lee decided to move back to Australia and somehow ended up at Goondiwindi for three years running the breeding and training program for SDM Quarter Horses. During that time he helped to co-ordinate the purchase of ‘One Time Royalty’ along with some other very well bred mares. Although they didn’t get to many shows, he thoroughly enjoyed his time working for the late Susan Marchant, who was a very interesting character. After her passing they moved to Tamworth where they are now based.  Rob brought “Pumpkin” with them when they moved back to Australia - she’s really been a once in a lifetime horse. To date she's won and placed in multiple Campdrafts, Cutouts, Open Stockmans Challenges, Open Reinings, AQHA Reined Cowhorse, Open Team Roping Jackpots, but the most special of all is his six year old son, Grant, rides her everywhere. They have been very fortunate to base themselves on the Grant family property, “Meadowbank", with worldclass facilities and only four km from the AELEC. Along with conducting clinics, they mainly focus on starting and training two, three and four year olds for Cutting, Campdrafting and Stockmans Challenges. Sale preparation is a large part of their business, with the Landmark Classic Sale being just down the road. Last year they put 11 horses through Page 24 • The Australian Quarter Horse Magazine November • December • 2016 the sale on behalf of vendors for an average of almost $ 25,000 and the year before they sold a two-yearold colt by Hazelwood Conman for $65,000 on behalf of Richard Bull.  Rob feels he’s been very blessed to be involved with some of the greatest horsemen in this country, such as John Brekelmans, Mark Buttsworth, Terry Hall, Robert Mackay and Grant Quigley, along with many others who have helped him out in many ways. One of the things that he loves about being a professional horseman is that you are always evolving and striving to become better, your feel, timing and understanding never stops developing. Rob can't think of anything else he’d rather do every day.
