DEAR MEMBERS, Well the elections and awards night are over and no doubt you will see a full list of Directors listed here in the magazine and you will now notice we all have AQHA email addresses to be contacted on. This brings us all into the governance about Directors emails for the future.
You will also see some new names on the Directors list and I welcome them on board and a big thank you to our retiring directors, Paul Lorimer, Rachel Turner and Jo Gregory for your time on the board in the past.
The sub committees will be announced by the portfolio holders soon so all portfolio holders will be full steam ahead for the next year and I thank them for there dedication to the AQHA in doing this. Our next board meeting will be held in December in Sydney for our final meeting for the year before 2026 is upon us, this year has flown by very quick.
We will have Christmas and New Year after that and then its only 4 months to Q26 again to be held in Tamworth.
Coming up again in February will be the Nutrien Classic sale which this year will be bigger again with open aged horses being added to the sale so look for the catalogue which will be out in the next month or so.
Breeding season is in full swing and it looks like a bumper season coming up for stallion owners as well as mare owners welcoming many new foals.
Please be aware of our genetic testing rules which are now in place for all breeding stallions and mares, if you are unsure of what tests your horses need, please ring the office to be guided in the right way.
The Stud Book subcommittee has been formulating a set of rules and guidelines for ICIS and Frozen Embryo’ s which will require paperwork to be submitted showing the number of frozen Embryo’ s or Oocytes you have from your mares so that permits can be issued for each of these for the future. With this technology going on in our industry today, we here in Australia needs to keep up to date with this as the AmQHA already has done the same over there.
The Show and Performance subcommittee are looking very hard at the feasibility of adopting the AmQHA Show and Performance rules with a few tweaks to suit Australia, no we are not adopting there whole rule book, just the show rules. In closing, we are here for the membership so please do not hesitate to get in touch if required.
