INNOVATIVE AUSSIE WEBSITE
Helping Horse Owners Find Agistment Online
Created by a Queensland couple, Farmshare Agistment is an innovative new website helping the horse community find and offer agistment across Australia.
For horse owners, finding quality agistment has become increasingly challenging, especially around our city areas. Likewise, agistment providers often struggle to get the word out and find suitable agistees. But Georgia and David, a couple from South-East Queensland, have developed a website that is making it easier to find and offer agistment online for the first time ever.
Georgia and David were inspired to create Farmshare Agistment after a bushfire threatened their Family Farm in Warwick, QLD.
“ Around the start of last year, we had a bushfire tear through our region and come right up to our fence line. But our neighbours weren’ t so lucky” David said.
“ We were seeing huge demand for people looking for a safe place to keep their horses. Local Facebook groups were overflowing with people desperately trying to find agistment and a safe place to keep their animals, we thought there has to be a better way”.
Motivated to help the community, the pair set out to build a free, easy-to-use online platform where agistment providers and property owners could post their available paddocks for agistment, allowing horse-owners to find agistment locally.
Farmshare Agistment is now helping people across Australia find and offer agistment online. After creating the website Georgia and David have been seeing huge demand with over 150 properties already listed and thousands of users every week.
“ There’ s been an overwhelming response with the amount of people using the platform.” Georgia said.
As well as long term agistment options from equestrian centres and private paddocks, Farmshare Agistment also allows users to find‘ Short Stays’ for your horse, which is really helpful when looking for a paddock for a few days during travelling or eventing.
Farmshare Agistment is completely free-to-use. Property owners can post or advertise their place at no cost, while agistees can search and find the perfect place without paying a cent. Georgia and David plan to keep the platform free into the future, describing it as a free community service.
“ The initial feedback has been great, with lots of people telling us it’ s exactly what the horse community has been missing.” Georgia said.
