1995 / 96 was another great year for Silver as he won the Victorian Quarter Horse Association Hi Point Senior Horse for the second year in a row and AQHA Hi Point Western Riding Horse of the Year in 1996.
Silver then had a change of Youth riders as Jess Oldham took over the reins from Jade. Jess and Silver were also a very successful team, winning a total of 39.5 points before Silver retired at the end of January 2000.
Jill Farnham had organised for four Quarter Horses to be part of the Moomba Parade and the crowd loved it.
Our Quarter Horses performed like the perfect horses they are.
Swanston Street was closed off totally and the floats, people and horses walked down the main road, with people 10-20 deep screaming and yelling and clapping. No doubt Quick Silver thought all the applause and fuss was for him and him alone ' said Judy of her proud and beautiful buckskin.
1997 South Australian State Championships- Hi-Point Youth
Another of Yulgilbar Quick Silver ' s career highlights was representing the Quarter Horse at the Moomba Parade in Melbourne.
' Silver spent his last years being ridden around by my granddaughter Aimee, bareback with just a halter in his paddock. He was allowed to wander through the orchard to get the apples and pears that had dropped to the ground. He was very happy living at my daughter Jo ' s place. The paddock was full of clover and other good quality grass. At this point of his life Silver was getting arthritis and had to have some medication to help him through. He had three years of lots of love and attention before being put to rest at our home in Yarra Glen on October 17th, 2003 at the age of twenty-two ' said Judy.
Quick Silver remains in the thoughts of those who loved him and the memories of those who were honoured to watch the great buckskin gelding that truly was a Super Horse... an Australian Quarter Horse.
