For Paul Ralston, that journey began in childhood and has culminated in the arrival of a stallion now making waves across Australia: Valentino Z A1-14288( Imp).

Ralston’ s introduction to horses was anything but conventional. Growing up surrounded by horses, he was immersed in the saddle from an early age.“ Dad always had a lot of horses, so I was just put on whatever needed to be worked,” he recalls. Starting on ponies in sporting events and barrel racing, the progression to Quarter Horses came naturally. It wasn’ t about a single standout horse or moment, it was about the lifestyle, the consistency, and the draw of competition.
Barrel racing itself quickly became Pauls focus.“ I liked the sport for what it was,” he explains simply a sentiment that reflects the straightforward, results driven mindset that has guided his career.
That same clarity of vision played a key role in the decision to import Valentino Z A1-14288( Imp) from the United States. At a time when breeding decisions are often influenced by familiar bloodlines, Ralston took a different approach.“ He was a complete outcross to what we already have in Australia,” he says.“ I believed he could have a real impact on our breeding industry here.”
But Valentino Z A1-14288( Imp) is more than just a strategic acquisition. Described as a stallion with a“ big personality,” he combines athleticism with an exceptionally kind nature.“ He loves attention whether it’ s having his mane plaited or just being fussed over,” Ralston adds.
