A LANDMARK YEAR FOR SDP BUFFALO RANCH
EXCELLENCE IN BREEDING AND PERFORMANCE
The Ranch has enjoyed an extraordinary year, marked by a significant rise in breeding numbers and increasing demand for both established and new stallions.“ There is a growing interest in both our new and existing stallions,” said Principal Shane Plummer, reflecting on a year filled with remarkable achievements across multiple disciplines and continents.
While SDP Buffalo Ranch stallions have long been dominant in Cutting, 2024- 2025 brought exceptional success in the Australian cowhorse and campdraft circuits. Leading the charge was SDP SCOTT DAVID Q-64619, a son of HYDRIVE CAT Q-64619, who captured Australia’ s top Campdraft accolade— the 2024 Warwick Gold Cup. Equally notable was the mare A SANDIE BLONDE Q100612, by SANNMAN Q-83590, who sold for $ 180,000 at the 2025 Nutrien Classic, making her the highest seller of the sale and reinforcing the high market value of SANNMAN progeny.
Though HYDRIVE CAT Q-64619 has passed, his legacy remains powerful, with his offspring surpassing $ 6 million in earnings. Standouts include ELSA DUTTON Q101109, who earned multiple cutting titles including the 2024 NCHA Futurity Reserve Champion and 2024 Balonne River Cutters Open Futurity Champion. PURPLE DRIVE Q-85249, BR RED ROO CAT Q-100032, BORN TO DRIVE Q-99678, HYSPIN LADY Q-95211, HY ON CHERRIES Q-84709, YULGILBAR HI KITTY Q-81923 and D U I Q-68826 were also consistent top performers. We also saw ONE STYLISH DRIVE become a Nutrien Classic Campdraft Finalist. His progeny continued to dominate across major cutting events and campdrafts, proving their versatility and class.
SANNMAN Q-83590 solidified his global reputation, with his offspring excelling in both the U. S. and Australia. SJ SANNY SQUARED was inducted into the NCHA American Hall of Fame, while Australian performers PEPPAS LITTLE VANNA Q-97941, MAXI BRAKES Q-98096, SANNAREYA Q-92071 and SMART LOOKIN BOON Q-94099 claimed victories and finalist spots in prestigious cutting and cowhorse events.
TR DUAL REY Q-59684 also made his mark, siring athletic and gritty performers such as BLEU REY CHANEL Q-96844, DARA FLASHY PREVIEW Q-82702, TR MAGIC EYE PRINCESS Q-85863, DARA IMA PREVIEW Q-82857, SDP COCOA REY Q-84576, REYSN HOPE Q-79926 and TR SMART REY Q-66682, who achieved top placings across campdrafting, cutting and cowhorse competitions.
Similarly, REY DUAL Q-66941 produced champions in both youth and open divisions, showcasing longevity and trainability that keep them in the winner’ s circle.
A fan favourite was certainly JOSE SIGALA Q-99415 by SIGALA REY Q-92438 owned by Peter Shumack. this horse has achieved remarkable accolades, including the 2024 NCHA Non-Pro Derby Champion, 2024 Vic Events Open Derby Champion, and 2024 Balonne River Cutters Non-Pro Derby Reserve Champion.
