AQHA PRESIDENT REPORT- MARCH / APRIL 2026
RICKY GLEN- PRESIDENT
DEAR MEMBERS,
Firstly let me say that the AQHA Board and members were saddened to see members affected by the recent fires and floods that devastated some areas of Australia with property and livestock losses. If any members affected in these areas need help to replace paperwork and any thing to help with the for coming breeding returns and registration deadlines, please speak with the AQHA office in regards to this and I am sure we can help out.
As in the past, breeding returns and registrations are due at the 31st of May 2026 and this will be here before we know it.
While I am writting this, the Annual Sizzler Spectacular is being in Victoria and as usual, it ' s bigger and better than before and full credit to the GVQHA for again hosting this great show.
Next up will be Q26 or as most know as the AQHA National Show held at ALEC in Tamworth in April, again by the looks of things this will be bigger than Q25 and I am sure many of you will be competing there and I look forward to catching up with you at the welcoming members dinner the night before the show starts.
We have been trying to get an extra day or two for this show as it ' s growing bigger than Ben Hur but this is a work in progress it seems.
I encourage members attending the show to visit the AQHA office if you have a chance to see the history of the AQHA showcased in the front lobby as this is what made the AQHA to be one of the leading breed associations in Australia today.
The board will be meeting in Victoria in March and the rule book will be the main topic of discussion with it being reviewed with the implementation of the AmQHA performance rules being adopted with of course some fine tuning to suit us here in Australia and Trish Whettenhall who has the Show and Performance portfolio along with her sub committee and input from members of the AQHA are striving to put this together.
Another great initiative that has been well supported is the up and coming judges and to date this has added judges to our ranks which has been lacking in the past.
The NUTRIEN sale has been done and dusted with our breed accounting for a good many high priced horses sold.
The AQHA paid out incentive cash to owners and breeders of the highest registered Quarter Horses in some of the events and as the saying goes, " It pays to ride a Quarter Horse ".
The AQHA supports the owners and breeders of Quarter Horses in the way of Incentive Payouts across many disciplines of our industry in a way of saying thank you to members who support us.
Again, looking forward to seeing you at Q26 and until then, stay safe.
With regards Ricky Glen( AQHA President)
