A DREAM REALISED: LANINA’ S RISE TO NUTRIEN CLASSIC GLORY When Lanina surged to victory in the 2026 Nutrien Classic Campdraft under the guidance of Wyatt Young, it was more than a win it was the fulfilment of a belief formed years earlier, when she was just a two year old with an undeniable presence.

For her owner Lexie Belcec, Lanina’ s journey is a story of instinct, partnership and unwavering faith in a horse that always felt destined for something special.
LOVE AT FIRST RIDE Lanina’ s story began at MacCallum Performance Horses, where her owner Lexie first encountered her as a young horse.
“ I first met Lanina when she was just two years old. From the very first ride, I knew she was special,” Lexie recalls.“ She had something you can’ t quite put into words a presence, a heart, and a willingness that set her apart.”
Even at that early stage, Lanina affectionately known as“ Nina” carried herself with a quiet confidence. There was a sense she was going to be“ something cool,” as Lexie puts it, and the connection between horse and rider was immediate.
The opportunity to secure that future came when Lanina was entered in the 2024 Nutrien Sale. With the support and trust of her mother, the decision was made to purchase her not simply as an investment in talent, but as a commitment to a dream.
“ Owning Lanina wasn’ t just about having a talented horse. It was about committing to what I saw in her from the very beginning.”
THE ROAD TO THE 2026 NUTRIEN CLASSIC Fast forward to 2026, and that early promise culminated in one of campdrafting’ s most prestigious titles. In the lead up to the 2026 Nutrien Classic, Wyatt Young’ s preparation of Lanina left little to chance.
“ She was looking and feeling the best she ever has fit, confident and completely in sync with him,” Lexie says.“ After each round, our excitement just kept building. Every run gave us more belief.”
There was a quiet confidence in the camp, though speaking it aloud almost felt too bold.
“ Before Wyatt went out for the final run, I remember saying,‘ Imagine if she wins it.’ It felt almost too big to say out loud but we both knew she was capable.”
