Kirk and Tracey Nicholson have been long-time AQHA Members and Breeders , and great supporters of the Nutrien Campdraft and Sale . As a breeder , they shown true commitment and great confidence in their horses .
Sorta Smooth Q-79440 affectionately know as Tommy was bred by Kirk and Tracey Nicholson from Clavar Cutting Horses . He is sired by one of the most notable sires in the cutting , cowhorse and performance horse world , that being Smooth As A Cat Q-72828 , who is a $ 36 Million sire and his accomplishments are unmatched . Sorta Smooth ' s dam is a stand-out , well bred mare called Roosters Lil Darlin Q-60612 , she has produced a number of talented horses that are achieving great results in the cutting and campdraft arenas .
Kirk and Tracey made the decision to have Sorta Smooth Q-79440 sent to Scott Campbell after he was broken in , to begin his training in the cutting pen . With the guidance of Scott , the two became a great combination and throughout his time in the cutting pen they achieved a number of incredible results placing and finaling in all of his events . Kirk and Tracey could not be more happier with the guidance and work Scott had done with Tommy throughout his cutting career . The time came when they decided to change the direction of Sorta Smooth Q-79440 and try him in the Campdraft pen , the decision was to send him to David Thorn .
David and Sorta Smooth Q-79440 have worked well together acheiving many great results in the Campdraft pen . This year at the 2024 Nutrien Classic Campdraft and Sale , they were the winners of the AQHA $ 1,000 Cash Incentive for the Breeder of the highest placed registered Quarter Horse in the 2024 Nutrien Stallion Shootout . The incentive went to the breeder of Sorta Smooth Q-79440 , Kirk and Tracey Nicholson from Clavar Cutting Horses . A big thank you to AQHA for the Incentive and Nutrien for this event .
