Arriving on the Saturday the 24th of June , we hit the ground running , Sunday morning we headed to see John Mitchell at Slate River Ranch Weatherford , where he schooled our 2 cutting kids . Monday we headed to Whitesboro to see Bud Lyon of Bud Lyon Performance Horses , where our Reiners and Ranchers rode and practiced the patterns for the YWC competition . We also caught up with fellow former Aussie Kodi Kyle ( Anderson ) who kindly had loaned us some of her show gear for the competition . Tuesday and Wednesday we headed to Tioga to ride with Brad Ost and Troy Lehn of Empyre Show Horses , where our soft event girls were put through their paces with the patterns for the YWC show . The weather was HOT !, some days 110 degrees with 100 % humidity , so we were riding early , then we spent the afternoons at the saddlery shops . We were lucky enough to visit Charlie Cole at Highpoint Performance Horses , where he showed us around all of his exotic animals ! This was such a treat for the kids . Thanks also goes to Charlie for lending us some gear to take to use the competition . We also had a chance to spend an afternoon at the Will Rogers Coliseum Fort Worth to watch the youth horsemanship at the Paint World Show . Thursday morning was spent cleaning gear and preparing to head down to College Station . We had a coach pick us up at 12pm to drive us the three plus hours to the event . It was funny to see 11 of us in such a big bus , but we had so much gear to take , we needed the biggest coach .
The YWC 2023 event was held at Brazos County Expo Complex , College Station , Bryan , Texas . Our team arrived at our hotel , which was to be home for the next 11 days , along with 17 other teams form all over the world who were all staying at the same hotel .
