AQHA AMATEUR DIVISION
Hello Fellow Amateurs
Well to quote lyrics from a song by Sonny and Cher – ‘And
the Beat Goes On’. Australia is still in the grips of COVID-19
and certain States have managed to be in Stage 4 lockdown,
so………….
POSITIVES LOCALLY:
1. Masks help to replenish the moisture to the face, reversing
the effects of weathering on the skin
2. Learning to speak through our eyes
(mouths are covered) smiling through our eyes
3. Revisiting old recipes passed down from our grandparents
4. Patting or touching your horse, wipes away all negativity,
leaving a sense of wellbeing and calmness
POSITIVES GLOBALLY:
1. THE ENVIRONMENT - Carbon emissions are down
globally (manufacturing and air travel grinding to a halt),
the planet has had a chance to rejuvenate. With tourists
gone from Italy, the long-polluted canals of Venice now
appear clear as fish and other wildlife start returning.
Wildlife is also reappearing in other major cities.
Hopefully most States will have fantastic hay crops,
so no shortage of feed.
2. PEACE – Hopefully we will have less conflict. The United
Nations called to end all wars in the face of COVID-19 as
the world confronts a common enemy: “It’s time to put
armed conflict on lockdown,” stated Secretary-General
António Guterres.
Small squabbles amongst family, friends and neighbours
will disappear, as we remember the real enemy –
COVID-19.
3. CONNECTEDNESS - A rejuvenated sense of community
and social spirit. We need relationships, contact and
interaction with other people, so are finding new ways to
socialise. In Italy, people are joining their instruments and
voices to create music from their balconies. People are
leading street dance parties while maintaining social
distancing. ZOOM, Skype, etc., a group of friends and
challenge them to a game of Scattergories or organise a
Quiz on Microsoft Forms, etc.
4. INNOVATION - COVID-19 has disrupted
our markets, so we must innovate.
Many businesses have had to reinvent themselves
with a new ‘business as unusual’ philosophy.
Some Trainers are offering video horse riding
lessons, so we can continue and maintain
