The event kicked off at 12noon , Friday 16th October with the Maybrook Spelling & Agistment & Northern Inland Credit Union Maiden Campdraft with 266 first round runs in the draw . Judged by Tim Hollis , some nice rounds were witnessed , and it was a great start into the weekend .
Next event was the Le Salon Ladies Campdraft that kicked off at 6:30am , Saturday 17th October with 144 runs in the draw . Wyatt Young judged the event , and it took scores of 87 points and better to be in the placings . Congratulations to the winner Brooke Morris , who rode Rosie to an 89-point round and took out the draft . Second was Jodie Poole riding MC with an 88 and dividing third on 87 ’ s was Rebecca Luxford on Scandal , Rachel Flanagan on One Moore Caress and Amber Henwood riding Fossil Downs Rhyme . Brooke won a rug sponsored by Campdraft Training Online and a saddle pad donated by Davis Saddles .
Next up was the final of the Maybrook Spelling & Agistment & Northern Inland Credit Union Maiden Campdraft after the first round on Friday , 24 horses qualified for the final , which consisted of competitors scoring 82 points and up . Sam Newsome was the eventual winner with 171 points , 85 from the first round and an 86 in the final , riding Limerick Herculean . Second was Dianne Martin riding Cowgirls Rule , 168 points , third Heidi Smith riding
California , 166 points and equal fourth Andrew Warden riding Gezzabelle and Norman Stagg with Purdy Rey with 162 points .
Sam also won a service fee to Talawahl Classic Destiny donated by Talawahl Stock Horses and a rug sponsored by Smith Family Horses . Cut-out winner was Steve McNamara riding Darma Acres of Vegas with a 23 , sponsored by Rip- Roarin . Highest Scoring Encouragement Rider was Andrew Warden riding Gezzabelle , sponsored by Virbac Australia .
We then moved onto the Jim Lyons Agency Open Campdraft , well wasn ’ t it a spectacle to see , 137 first round runs in the draw with amazing cattle , saw some big rounds that added to the awesome atmosphere for the entire weekend . The scores said it all 89 and up was the score to have to make the final , which was held immediately following the first round and judged by Leon Cummins .
15 competitors went into the final and Jim Lyons riding Dear Dulcie had everyone cheering for him after his 92 achieved from the first round . He backed it up with another 87-point round and ended up equal second in the draft with Tim Hollis riding Adios Envy also with 179 points .
