A
fter many years The National
Pleasure Horse Association had a
change in committee and successfully
ran their first show in May 2017 at
SIEC. The new committee comprised
of Brooke Casswell, Nicole Wilson,
Danielle Butcher, Keryle Devlin, Jenny
McCue, Haley Cove, Melannie Halligan,
Carla Cox and Rene Hoefchen. The
new committee were eager to bring our
industry a show that gave something
back to the sponsors. A show that was
full of entertainment for the western
industry, showcasing our talented and
versatile western bred horses.
As it was the new committee’s first show
they tried not to change too much from
the previous year’s format, and waited
to see how it would work. It was a true
success and with the assistance of
Joanne Gregory’s advice and guidance
on previous matters. The shoes were
filled and the show was amazing for
riders, spectators and sponsors.
NPHA had some major sponsors as lots
of other major shows in Australia but
the new committee did bring in some of
their own new flavour! Every sponsor
received an amazing gift hamper filled
with local, organic and customised
products from the Hawkesbury Area
just minutes away where SIEC is based.
This is not where the flavour stopped!
Not only did sponsors park their
goosenecks at the VIP sponsors parking
area, all major sponsors also received
a pass for free lunch! The lunches were
run by Darren Wilson (Thanks Dazza!)
and everybody was licking their lips
after delicious butter chicken and slider
burgers were served.
NPHA also run a ‘Spectacular Show’
on the Monday the 22nd May and
the biggest class was the Open Walk
and Jog, supporting ‘breast cancer
awareness’ and a buckle was donated to
honour the late Mrs Suzie Jackson.
After this amazing opening Monday
NPHA organised a fancy dinner in the
evening with candle light and MUSIC
and MORE GIFTS!
Special mention must be made of
Carol Ricketts and Barb Etcell who did
such a wonderful job of running the
office for the duration of the show and
lending their expertise to a very new
committee. Thank you ladies for your
support and smooth running of the
show.
All of the show team did a fantastic
job and the committee was extremely
grateful for the seamless running of the
show each day so thanks to all!
The NPHA committee is looking
forward to the 2018 EquinePure NPHA
Celebration Show and some exciting
changes are on the way! We hope it will
be bigger and better for all our sponsors,
competitors and spectators!
