BRAUNSTONE OAK ( Q-54061 )
IN 2003 , through a syndicate with friends , a 14 month old Bronze Oak ( Q-20090 ) Roman Four Holly Day ( R2-8060 ) AQHA colt was purchased from John Manwarring .
‘ Braunstone Oak , aka MB , was dual registered AQHA / ASH ,’ Karen says . ‘ Friends of ours owned a full sister that was a very competitive Campdrafter . We really liked Bronze Oak after seeing him successfully drafted by Heath Sinclair , so we were confident . We sent the colt to a Cutting trainer for the Futurity . A fun venture with no big expectations . Following the Futurity , MB had a well-earned spell .’
Erin began competing MB in Snaffle Bit Cutting & ASH futurity events , and then Campdrafting . MB has Novice and Ladies wins , countless placings in Open Drafts , and has won Open and Rookie Challenges . He placed in the Charlie Maher Memorial Young Guns Campdraft at Nutrien Classic , Tamworth 2020 .
‘ Though he ’ s been the bridesmaid so many times we ‘ ve lost count , there aren ’ t many events he doesn ’ t final & place in . MB is a gentle boy , who ’ s been a fun family horse . Anyone can ride him and he ’ s a great confidence builder , with all who ’ ve ridden him being successful . At 18 years , he still loves his job .’
Karen says MB has bred some lovely foals , and his progeny have incredible natures , and love being around people .
‘ Early on , we sold most of them young . We wanted MB ’ s progeny competing . Yoorana Gunsmoke , out of Calamity , is one of the first young horses Tom started . A half-brother to Yoorana Copper Acres , Tom owns Smokey and successfully Campdrafts and competes in Challenges with him .’
Yoorana Diva , one of MB ’ s eldest progeny , out of a TB mare , has proven to be a nice cross with Yoorana Copper Acres . Karen says that people continue to breed to MB because of the temperament , strength , consistency and heart he passes on .
