Cheryl riding Rarni - PQHA RANCH
PJ Blazing Charary Awards
Cheryl describes Rarni as very forward , sensitive and extremely athletic mare who is always willing to perform as her results show : She was green broken by Railene Gilboy . Cheryl would like to also give thanks to her ‘ hero ’ David Norbury who she says had given her ‘ loads of help ’ over the years . But in recent times , Cheryl has been training Rarni by herself – a part of life as a competition rider with a tight budget .
Ranch Riding has become one of Cheryl ’ s favourite events , which she is extremely grateful to the AQHA for running . Looking back over the 9 years of owning and training Rarni , Cheryl says , “ Rarni is a blessing in my life . After each show I look forward to seeing my scores and working out a way to improve . Recently I ’ ve been working on my walk in the Ranch Event and was delighted to see some + scores filtering through . Western riding is a little harder and I ’ m pleased with a Zero but the + score is such a delight . My tip for up-and-coming riders is to look at how you can improve your scores .”
Rarni is agisted at a lovely property owned by Mick Goreham ( a retired Prominent Jockey ) with post and rail fence and a loose box . Cheryl works from her float as there are no other
