STATE QUARTER HORSE SHOW

On the 19th and 20th of March, the Quarter Horse Association of South Australia hosted the State Show at the Marrabel Rodeo grounds. Our Judge was Larry Hansch from Texas, USA and Ty Zoontjens judging the traditional classes.
With a total of 48 horses competing, it was a busy couple of days with great weather. It was the first time the club had used the Rodeo grounds for a show and the feedback from the competitors was great.
On the Saturday we began with our Hack and Dressage classes followed by Trail, Horsemanship and finishing the evening with Western Pleasure.
On Sunday we started with Showmanship, which was quite hotly contested by all. At the end of all our Showmanship classes, Larry brought all the competitors back into the ring to have a five-minute talk about the class and what everyone was able to improve on. It was also an opportunity for any competitors that had any questions they would like to ask him.
Following the talk, the rest of the day consisted of Halter, Hunter in Hand and Hunter Under Saddle classes.
At the conclusion of the show, we were able to finalise the calculations for the High Point Awards and present the winners with the High Point Presentation.
The High Points are as follows:
