BOOM BAR MINGO

It is with a sad heart our wonderful old boy BOOM BAR MINGO Q-25539 (“ Buddy ”), born 26th August 1990 , was humanely put to sleep on 24th November 2022 , at the great old age of 32 years .
Buddy had achieved numerous awards , competing successfully at the AQHA Nationals on several occasions , and at the Youth World Cup in 2004 . He had an official total of 989 AQHA points , though would actually have achieved well over 1000 if all his performance had been submitted over his career . He was trained and campaigned very successfully in his early years by Bev O ’ Keefe , and went on later to be a wonderful Youth and Amateur / Select Amateur horse .

Kerry Morgan ’ s family owned him when he was in his teens , he was later sold and competed by other Youth and Amateur riders , but ultimately Kerry purchased him back in his 20 ’ s in order to retire him – he last competed in 2017 , doing a couple of “ fun ” classes with a Junior Youth rider , and winning his Senior Horse Trail class with me at the age of 27 years . The photo here is of Buddy in December 2018 , at the age of 28 .
Buddy was a great credit to his breeder and trainer , and to the Quarter Horse breed . In his final years he developed severe arthritis in his offside front knee , and although in good health otherwise , as he was in increasing discomfort , we made the hard decision to let him go in springtime this year .
