2022 AQHA PRESIDENT REPORT - KIM JOHNSON
TO ALL OUR MEMBERS ,
Start of our 2022 New Year is looking great , hopefully we can all get back some degree of normal , and enjoy showing our horses .
I feel that the number of breeders this year has increased , which will increase foal production , this will be a positive for us . Influences for this I feel are the bumper cattle prices , and huge horse sale prices in the cattle and timed events area .
AQHA is in a very good place , due to the consistent good management of our office and your Board of Directors . We have just witnessed the largest horse sale at the Nutrien Sale in Tamworth . Highest prices ever seen for Australian Registered Quarter Horses , moving forward AQHA will have a bigger foot print in this , we look forward to seeing the impact of this . We have some exciting events happening in the next few months , our National Show in April , the NCHA Futurity in June , our first Judging Convention happening in July . Our Youth Director Liz has been busy , our YWC Application forms are out , TRANS-TASMAN event coming up this year for our Youth and Amateurs , forms are out also .
USA AMQHA Convention is at the end of February , we will be attending via zoom , not ideal but safer , as international boarders are only just opened up it was more practical . A full report of meeting will follow . I am getting lots of feed back from Members and breeders that they are excited to get back to showing in coming season 2022 , this is exciting and adds to the confidence of the industries associated with AQHA . In January this year , the AQHA lost a valued member in Baillieu Myer at age 96 who was instrumental in the success of our breed in Australia . We offer our deepest condolences to the Myer family at this sad time . Make sure you read Gail Ritchie ’ s Tribute to “ Bails ” the great horseman on page 12 of the AQHA magazine .
Thank you to the office , board of Directors and you the members . It has been a difficult time for all of us due to Covid , but we are getting back to Covid safe activities with in our industries , this is positive for the future of AQHA .
