PG.15 Mark knows Alloy’s dam very well, after training and successfully showing Reys Little Hottie, and says that the Dual Rey mare was really cow-smart, very quick and snappy. ‘Metallic Cat puts that softness into them for the read,’ Mark says. ‘So that cross with the Dual Reys is a really good mix. Hottie’s dam, EB Buffel, is by High Brow Doctor out of Robbie Hodgman’s good mare, EBS Clypsil, so Hottie’s really solid and classy on that bottom side.’ Mark points out, too, that the horse that won the USA NCHA Futurity this year was the same Metallic Cat/Dual Rey cross, so he’s really looking forward to continuing on with the horse’s development and training. ‘From here on, I’ll be focused on getting Alloy ready for the Futurity, but after that I’d imagine Rodger would want this colt to eventually go back to Nutrien for the Challenge and the Campdraft. I’ve run the colt outside, and done enough on him to know that he can do it. He’s a very balanced horse and doesn’t seem to find anything too hard. Whatever he’s asked to do, he does it in a pretty relaxed manner.’ CONGRATULATIONS GO TO KOOBAH PERFORMANCE HORSES & TO ALL PARTIES INVOLVED IN THIS VERY SUCCESSFUL TRANSACTION MARCH/APRIL ISSUE 2020
