PG.14 AQHA FEATURE Mark Buttsworth and Branchvale Metal Alloy Q-93525 believe Branchvale Metal Alloy Q-93525 is one of those. To top it off he has a lovely temperament and is always a pleasure to be around.’ Broken-in by Daniel Lithgow of Chinchilla, the plan for Alloy was always that he would go to Mark Buttsworth for his training, to find out just what his potential was. With positive feedback from both trainers, who’ve each respectively done a wonderful job with him, there was always talk to aim for the NCHA Futurity, and later, aged events and Campdrafting. ‘The new owner has left him with Mark and it looks like the plans will go ahead. For us, that’s good to know. Mark knows the horse and the horse knows him and it’s wonderful that someone else can see what we could always see—the potential that this horse has and the training he’s had so far!’ Merle and Derek hope those at Koobah Performance Horses enjoy Alloy as much as they have and will certainly be watching his career and future with great interest. ‘We’d also like to thank Nutrien for putting on such a great event! Merle adds. ‘Not only do they promote the horse industry very professionally, but their use of new ideas is refreshing!’ THE TRAINER Trainer, Mark Buttsworth, of Kingaroy, Qld, likes Alloy and says he’s a really nice colt to work with and is naturally very soft. ‘Breaker, Daniel Lithgow put a real good foundation on the colt before I started with him and that made my job a lot easier. When I started him on cattle, I found that he just had a natural talent from day one. There was a good rate of speed there, a natural stop and he really wanted to read a cow.’ AUSTRALIAN QUARTER HORSE ASSOCIATION - WWW.AQHA.COM.AU
