SHARON HAS ACCUMULATED SOME VERY PROUD ACHIEVEMENTS OVER THE YEARS , INCLUDING :
• Amateur Feature Western Pleasure at the 2011 WAQHA State Show with Diesel .
• Qualifying for the 2011 AmQHA World Show in Amateur Horsemanship with Diesel .
• Taking out the 3-year-old trail at the SA Circle C Western Spectacular in 2014 with Rosie .
• Qualifying for the 2014 AmQHA World Show in Junior Trail with Rosie .
• Winning the overall AQHA High Point Performance horse for WA with Rosie in 2015 was very special as well , and we flew over the awards night .
• Winning Novice Amateur Horsemanship and Novice Amateur HUS at the 2017 Vic State Show with Rosie .
• Placing second at the 2017 NPHA Amateur Showmanship with 1 point between us and 1st place , our last class together prior to selling Rosie .
• A highlight with Jack would be winning the Joyful Firefly Memorial Trail at the WAQHA State Show 2018 , a lot of tears with that win .
“ I ’ ve been lucky to have some wonderful all-rounder horses to compete with , ‘ SOQ Deliberate Concent ’ by Deliberate Chip was a wonderful horse . We won a lot of events together , and he was great with youth as well . I was also lucky to buy his yearling sister ‘ Chips Sweet Rosalie ’ also by Deliberate Chip . We competed not only in WA but also in SA , Vic and NSW together . We won a lot of Western Pleasure , Showmanship ’ s and Trail together . I sold Rosie to a wonderful home in Vic and brought ‘ YLS Garnet ’ affectionately known as Jack , by This Invitation just as we left NSW to head home from the 2017 NPHA . Jack has a lot of talent but has some feet issues , so our highlights considering have been pretty spectacular . We ’ ve had a lot of wins in trail , showmanship and halter . The plan was to take him back east , but he doesn ' t travel that well , so he ’ s a paddock ornament for now .”
“ As a result of Jacks issues , instead of hubby ' s new patio , I got to buy a yearling filly , ‘ No Doubt About This Girl ’ by No Doubt About Him . We ’ ve overcome some hurdles but she ’ s showing some promising ability and will be aimed at pleasure once we have started her . She ’ s taken to led trail and showmanship nicely as well .”
“ I ’ ve always been a fan of ' Zips Chocolate Chip ', and it shows with my horses . ‘ Invitation Only ’ and the ‘ Lazy Lopers ’ are definitely on my list of great sires .”
“ Perfect practice makes for perfect . Many wonderful people have guided me over the years ; Dawn Holliday ,
Mark Shaffer , Vanessa Hancox , Brian Cramp , Elise Young , Karen Cornish , Karen Nicoletto . All very talented horse people I have been involved with either training , lessons , clinics and shows .”
“ The resilience of people is what I love the most in our industry . The majority of people will reach out and help others and are generally a supportive group . We need to encourage our youth and make this industry more family friendly . A lot of mums go into it and then step back when the kids start riding , so we gain some and lose some .”
“ There are a lot of very talented riders out there . Too many to mention and a great quality of horses coming through . Its inspiring sitting back and watching features at the NPHA and seeing trainers such as Kane Skopp , Holly & Caroline Johnson , Tash & Travis Humphries , Kyle & Kristy Mobberley ride consistently at the top over the years . It takes a lot of hard work and effort to stay at the top with those results and be consistent . They have my admiration and respect , that ' s for sure . Younger trainers are coming through like Matt Freiberg , Taj Carson , Lana Kelderman , and Will Hupp ; they ’ re all very talented horse people and great competitors .”
Sharon says she ’ s no expert and recognizes her weaknesses and works hard to overcome them to improve . Her honesty , asking for help and guidance contribute to her success .
Sharon would like to acknowledge the following people ; “ Dawn Holliday , my first western coach . Dawn helped me buy my first proper western horse , ‘ Winderadeen Just a Smooth Jet ’, and whom I still consider a mentor . Brian Cramp , for helping me in the early years and with ‘ Chips Sweet Rosalie ’. Karen Cornish , one of the nicest , hardworking people I know , is a great mentor , friend , and competitor , always happy to lend an ear and give advice and calls a spade a spade . Elise Young , my coach and friend , a great source of knowledge and a good reality grounder as well . My hubby Josh for putting up with this all and encouraging me even when he complains about it all !”
Sharon future goals are to compete again on the East Coast hopefully at Q22 in the two year old events with her filly Elsa , if things progress well then possibly Sizzler , and Nationals and NPHA as a four-year-old . The ultimate goal / dream is to compete in the States at the Congress .
We wish her every success and will be watching to see what the future holds .
