The new Rule Book, effective 1st August 2015, has been printed and every member shall have it ready for the new showing season. There are some changes in the book, so make sure that you read through it to make yourself aware of any changes that might relate to your events. The Oceania and Australian Judges Seminar has finished. The information supplied by Jackie Krshka and Holly Hover, the American Quarter Horse judging hosts, is excellent. With 38 participants in total, it was a very informative seminar and ensured every participant is kept up to date and fully informed about rules, regulations, how to judge and score the various events. With Ranch Riding becoming an approved event in the coming year, giving our judges the opportunity to be prepared to judge it with skill was a great opportunity. The Oceania Judges ticket, if achieved, allows that person to judge any American Quarter Horse Show in the Oceania district (Japan, China, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa) as well as any AQHA show in Australia. Some participants were just interested in finding out how they are judged and what is expected by judges at a horse show. Speaking of China, we have two Barrel Racing participants, Calla Matthews from Tamworth, and Vicki Schiller from near Wagga, attending a Barrel Race in Inner Mongolia, China. The AQHA accepted an invitation from the China Quarter Horse Association for two AQHA participants to travel to China and compete in an invitational event, run over two days. We wish them luck in their endeavour and look forward to hearing how their adventure went. The breeding season is imminent and many breeders are starting to think about foaling down, and who to breed their mares to. With breeding returns up for the 2015 season, it shows a confidence in the Quarter Horse industry. Entries at shows are also strong, and it is wonderful to see new people participating in clinics and shows. The Annual General Meeting and Annual Awards Night will be held on the 3rd October, at Hotel Jen, Roma Street, Brisbane and I look forward to catching up with many of you there. Memberships are due 1st August 2015 and can be paid from 13th July 2015. Please look at our website for more information.
