Chloe & Grub
youngster . At the tender age of two , Chloe was already riding the ponies , and wanting nothing more than to be old enough to show them , like her big sister .
‘ Since my wonderful time with show ponies , and show hacks , I began working with my off-the-track TB horses I re-educate , eventually finding a love for eventing . Living on farms with a passion for livestock and horses , I later ended up as the proud owner of Henry , an old-style , tough Quarter horse gelding . I rode Henry and used him on the farm for work , and he was amazing for any of the cattle work . So from owning my first Quarter horse , my love for the breed has simply kept on growing from there !’
But it was a memorable day for Chloe when an extremely special horse came into her life ! When she first saw the lovely chestnut at a show in South Australia , with his then owner , Micheala Wastell , Chloe says she fell completely in love with him . The now 12yo gelding was SVQ My Only Asset Q-68454 , by Assets N Cash Q-64085 , and out of YLS Oppcee Daisy Q50461 .
‘ I wasn ’ t really looking to buy a horse at the time ,’ Chloe reveals .‘ But when the opportunity to purchase the gelding came up , I wasn ’ t going to let it go . That would have to be the best decision I ’ ve ever made ! Grub , as he ’ s known , stands around 15.2hh and has a great temperament . He ’ s so easy going and has such a funny character along with it — like no other horse I ’ ve ever owned . It ’ s easy to see that he loves being pampered and prepared for the shows , and the funny thing is , he seems to love to show as much as I do . He has a heart of gold , and I can feel him striving to do his best in each class , which is an amazing feeling . Grub is huge part of our family , and we all adore him .’
Grub is kept on the Leetham family ’ s farm at Hay Plains , in NSW , or at Wagga Wagga at the agistment property , depending on where Chloe is in relation to University , or University breaks . She says she takes him everywhere she goes , as that ensures she ’ s able to continue with his care , exercise and training .
