2018 WAQHA State Champion Junior & Senior Cutting Horse   Coolup Cutting Club hosted the cutting events for WAQHA State Champion Junior & Senior Cutting Horse. We are privileged that the WAQHA entrust us to professionally hold these events on their behalf. Bianca Donald and her home bred, TMQ Armani Q-79862 , put together a lovely run to win the WAQHA State Champion Junior Horse. TMQ Armani Q-79862 is a 2013 gelding by Peptos Stylish Oak (Imp) Q-39269 out of Win- deradeen Biancas Cat Q-53757. TMQ Armani Q-79862 also recently won the Ladies Draft and Top Cut Out at Gingin Campdraft for Bianca proving they can do both! Brian Cramp and Got the Laredo Blues Q-70016 won the WAQHA State Champion Senior Horse. This highly deco- rated gelding owned by Gail Rapley is by Laredo Blue out of Lady So Smart. He is already a AQHA Award winner of ROM in Open, Novice and Non Pro Cutting and this award adds to his impressive trophy cabinet. This is the second year Brian and Blue have won this title. These two lucky winners won prize money and rosettes sponsored by the WAQHA, embroidered rugs kindly donated by AQHA Cattle & Timed Division and a free ser- vice fee to Spinboonafex Q-85142, proudly donated by Shamara Marshall. Brian Cramp & Got the Laredo Blues Q-70016 Bianca Donald & TMQ Armani Q-79862 At the recent 35th Anniversary WAQHA State Show, I was delighted to receive the Marie Yvonne Carter Me- morial trophy for High Point Select Amateur. My horse, Grace, (This Zipnlee Q 61644), is an eleven year old mare by This Invitation Q-51833, bred locally by Sarah Stuart out of her mare, Zipperlee Q-44385. In the eight years we’ve been together, we’ve trained with a number of well known WA coaches including Roberta Hiskins, Vanessa Hancox and Di Bawden. I’ve ridden for the last 44 years, purchasing my first horse at age 22. My early ambition was to do well in the hack ring, where I was an enthusiastic, if not notably successful competitor, on a number of pretty Thorough- breds. Then the challenges of Dressage attracted me and I slowly improved my riding skills and the quality of my horses, finishing at Elementary/Medium level aboard my Warmblood mare, Aramina. Looking for a more relaxed riding experience, I took up Western in 2007 and haven’t regretted the change. Grace is my third Quarter Horse; with any luck she and I will be competing for a number of years yet. My thanks to the estate of Marie Yvonne Carter for pro- viding the trophy and to Di Candillo Steel for once again sponsoring our State Show.
