A FAMILY AFFAIR: STEVE COMISKEY SHINES AT THE WARWICK GOLD CUP CAMPDRAFT
For seasoned campdrafter Steve Comiskey, the Warwick Gold Cup is far more than a prestigious competition— it’ s a tradition deeply woven into the fabric of his family life.
Each year, his parents drop in to cheer him on, while his wife and daughter soak up the unmistakable atmosphere that has made this event an institution in Australian horsemanship.
“ It’ s the mix of family, great competition, and community that keeps us all coming back,” Steve shares. And it’ s clear that sentiment is echoed across the grounds, where country spirit and world-class talent come together in a way few events can match.
This year, Steve delivered a standout performance aboard his striking black stallion Lyra Park Delt Me N Acre( A1-13006)— a superbly bred horse sired by Acres Destiny( Q-38061) and out of Lyra Park Delta( FM-25447). Their efforts not only impressed the crowd but also secured major recognition from the Australian Quarter Horse Association( AQHA).
With their entry into the event, Steve and Louise Comiskey collected the AQHA $ 2,000 Cash Incentive as the Highest Placed AQHA Owner. Adding to the achievement, Steve also earned the AQHA $ 1,000 Incentive for being the top-placed AQHA Breeder of a Quarter Horse holding a financial membership in the 2025 Warwick Gold Cup Campdraft.
