Under the competition rules no exhibitor is allowed to ride their own horse or a horse they have exhibited before . The hosting country is to supply 30 horses , the horses are allocated to either youth or amateur , graded into teams . Then each team gets a random selection of their team of Horses .
Prior to the Show competition , the team members get three days to ride and familiarise themselves to the donated Horses , the team coach and manager work with the members to get the best suitability for the horses and riders .

American Clinician / Judge Chris Brown from Billings Montana USA officiated this year ’ s competition .
Chris spent 3 days working with the competitors , her knowledge was invaluable . The teams also worked with there coaches every day , to get the best outcome for the event .
The competition is over 2 days , day one saw the Ranch Riding Classes , the following day Showmanship , Trail , Horsemanship , Hunter Under Saddle and Hunt Seat Equitation .

The competition was fierce all weekend . The Australian Youth Team Member Lacey Lalor taking out the Ranch and Showmanship championships riding Triandibo In black Velvet , Charlie Lalor Taking out Hunt Seat Equitation , Horsemanship riding QXH Unforgettable owner by Meredith Martin , Alyssa Dinnage won the championship Hunter Under Saddle & Trail riding Triandibo Intriplechick owner by Carla Montori and Louis Montagnat from team New Caledonia riding Triandibo Infullplay , owned by Helen Nixon won second place Youth Trail Championship .
The Australia Amateur Team member Annette Boyd won the Ranch Riding , showmanship and Hunter Under Saddle riding QXH Sweet Dreams and Lies . New Caledoinia member Brigitte Courtot riding INXS won the Trail Championship , Horsemanship winner Racheal F Turner riding SVQ My Only Asset for owner Fiona Hamilton- Fraser . The final event for the Amateur weekend , Hunt Seat Equitation won by New Zealand team member Serefina McCarthy riding Triandibo Superabundance for Glenna Finny .
This win gave the New Zealand the overall win for the event . With the Youth Championship going to the Australain Team . It was a great event , thankyou to the volunteers who put on this event for the AQHA .
The next Trans Tasman will be held in New Zealand , watch out for the dates .
