AQHA FEATURE ~ COW HORSE
Merrill attributes his success with Boon to the fact that the stallion is simply above average .
“ He is an exceptional animal ,” Merrill says . “ He goes to work in the show pen , he locks in , he genuinely loves his job . When he stops he buckles over , drops his hind end and works his front end so well . It ’ s hard to explain how good it feels .”
As Merrill and Boon were making headlines at World ’ s Greatest , Servi ’ s phone began ringing . Boon ’ s time in the show pen spotlight was adding more mares to his breeding books at a fast pace . Standing now at Oswood Stallion Station in Weatherford , Texas , Boon ’ s oldest babies are two years old .
“ I am confident that he is passing his good qualities on to his babies ,” Servi says . For me , one of the most important parts of standing a stallion is the connection that you to make with mare owners and breeders and I enjoy the passion that they have for what they are doing . I realize the investment they are making to breed to my stallion , and I want to make sure they have a good experience . Because I stay connected to them , I get lots of feedback . We are hearing from trainers about what great minds Boon ’ s babies have and how easy they are to train .”
Breeders also like the fact that Boon is homozygous for roan , meaning they are guaranteed a roan of their own .
