Phil Dawson and Merada in Prada Q-96354
Recently , when Merada in Prada and her trainer , Phil Dawson , stepped into the 2023 NCHA Cutting Futurity pen for their run in the NCHA Open Derby , the pair really meant business . They had a job to do , and they went ahead and did it . After totally dominating their chosen cattle , Phil and Prada walked back out of the pen with an amazing score of 226 in the clean slate final , a score no-one else would get close to . The win took Prada ’ s LTE to just short of $ 47k .
The victory was also a reminder of when the mare ’ s full sister , Beccy ' s Merada Q-92884 , and Phil Dawson , showed their talents in the NCHA Open Derby , back in 2018 , scoring 224 in a formidable run to take out the event . Belinda Staib was in the stands watching with total admiration .
