TWELVE WEEKS TO NATIONALS
Their journey together moved at remarkable speed. Magic arrived in January 2026, leaving just twelve weeks to prepare for the biggest event on the calendar. Kamila laughs when recalling introducing her instructor, Kerry Crees, to her very green youngster.
" I told Kerry we had twelve weeks to get Nationals ready. Lucky she just smiled and said she loved a challenge."
Their first outing came at Uralla Show in February 2026. " The goal was simply to make it a positive experience."
Magic handled the busy agricultural show atmosphere with ease, placing in most of his classes. By the following show, however, something had changed.
" He stepped off the float, looked around and knew exactly what was expected of him."
Broad sash after broad sash soon followed.
" As we kept winning, I started to think this little green Quarter Horse might just have a National title in him."
A DREAM REALISED AT Q26
Heading into the AQHA Q26 Nationals, Kamila ' s ambitions were modest. Rather than focusing on results, she wanted Magic to enjoy the experience, remain relaxed and confident, and continue developing as a willing partner.
" My goal was simply to have a horse that loved his work, showed his flair and stayed with me if he became worried."
Instead, Magic exceeded every expectation.
The talented gelding claimed National Champion Amateur Hack, Reserve National Champion Open Hack, while also carrying Kamila ' s daughter, Indy, to the National Youth Hack Championship despite Indy having ridden him for the very first time only two days before the competition.
" It was a dream come true," Kamila says. " I feel so much gratitude that this little horse wants to work with me. Every time he enters the arena he gives me more. He ' s honest, generous and genuinely loves his job."
