Simone says that the cattle at ARBC were great and a credit to the cattle donors . With Rip coming from the Cutting pen , she had been a little worried that the wet work side of the Challenge discipline was something she personally thought would have taken Rip a bit longer to adjust to , but says that she really should have given Rip more credit .
‘ Although the cattle were big and fast , and I thought they may have been a little challenging for a Classic horse to handle , I ’ m so proud to say that Rip held his own . Moving forward , Rip will continue to stay in Darrin Jones ’ s training program for the duration of the 2024 and 2025 Challenge show season . The only time he ’ ll head back home is probably when we have some mustering happening , and when the time comes for him to have a bit of a spell .’

It was an exciting moment for Simone when Rip and Darrin put in a great performance to take Reserve Champion in the 2024 ARBC Classic Stockmans Challenge . With Rip being the highest scoring registered Quarter Horse in the event , Simone received the two AQHA Incentive Awards .
Simone is looking forward to the 2024 breeding season , as it ’ s the first year that One Time Design will stand to outside mares . With Rip ’ s lovely breeding , type and temperament , plus the stallion ’ s increasing performance successes , she ’ s expecting he ’ ll be quite the busy fellow !
‘ The AQHA Incentive Awards are extremely generous , and I ’ m very grateful . It was an honour to receive the award , especially for Rip ’ s first competition , plus it was a double bonus for being the breeder and the owner ! I didn ’ t know what to expect in the event , but I was very excited to watch Rip do so well . It boosted my hopes for the performance horse I believe Rip will become , through Darrin ’ s training program .’
