Champion & Reserve Colt/Stallion In Amateur Halter competition, when an Amateur exhibitor has qualified two (2) or more horses for Champion and Reserve Champion, only another Amateur may assist that exhibitor as long as the Amateur who originally qualified the horses leads one (1) of the horses in that class. 62.21 Performance Classes for Amateur/Select Select Amateur classes – only one (1) class to be held. Amateur classes - only one (1) class to be held for Hack, Hunter Hack, Dressage, Showmanship, Horsemanship and Hunt Seat Equitation. Other Amateur classes to be divided into Junior Amateur and Senior Amateur Horse depending on the type of program. 62.22 Amateur/Select Awards a) Amateur/Select Register of Merit Any single Amateur/Select Amateur class as listed above may be awarded a Register of Merit by the Association at its discretion to any registered horse if it has been awarded twenty (20) points, fifteen (15) of which must be „A‟ points. Only points from Amateur or Select Amateur classes; b) Amateur/Select Superior Register of Merit Requires fifty (50) or more points, in any particular class, twenty five (25) of which must be “A” points; c) Amateur/Select Champion Award May be awarded by the Association, at its discretion, to any registered horse after it has been awarded three (3) Amateur/Select Amateur Registers of Merit in any Amateur/Select Amateur class excluding Showmanship at Halter; d) Amateur/Select Versatility Award Register of Merit Awards in five (5) different Amateur/Select Amateur classes. 62.23 Amateur Century Awards (Halter or Any Single Performance Class) May be awarded by the Association, at its discretion, to any registered horse after it has been awarded the following points: Bronze Century 100 points - Minimum 75 “A” points Silver Century 200 points - Minimum 150 “A” points Gold Century 300 points - Minimum 225 “A” points 63. YOUTH RULES AND REGULATIONS 63.1 The AQHA provides a Youth Division for youth exhibitors aged three (3) years to eighteen (18) years of age as of 1st August of the preceding year; and a) The minimum age for a youth competing in any Open ridden class or Youth ridden classes, is seven (7) years old, exception Rule 63.15 and 63.16; and b) The minimum age for a Youth competing in Youth Showmanship and Youth Halter is five (5) years of age and Open Halter classes is seven (7) years of age and over. 63.2 Youth competing or taking part in an AQHA sanctioned event, must have written permission from their parent/guardian to be at that event as an exhibitor or participant and in the case of a show, the parent/guardian must also sign the entry form.
