INTERNATIONAL
TEAMS PUT
NEW SURFACE
TO THE TEST
FESTIVAL OF HOCKEY

Hockey Pitch
Sports Technology International NZ was contracted
to construct one full size and one half size hockey
pitch to FIH standards at The Hawkes Bay Sports Park,
New Zealand. Utilising our world renowned system
Poligras Olympia COOLPlus, designed in Melbourne
by our manufacturing company, Advanced Polymer
Technology Asia Pacific (APTA).
The successful project features state-of-the-art water
harvesting capabilities, which allows for recycling to pitch
irrigation. In addition the drainage design, with detailed
subsurface infra-structure and permeable pavement
construction, allows for continued play even during the
heaviest downpours.
The new construction and surface was recently put to test
under extreme condition during the “Festival of Hockey”
held in April. Despite torrential rainfall the drainage proved
successful as teams from Argentina, Australia, China, Japan,
Korea and New Zealand were able to continue play.
Following this very successful event, tournament organisers
were most impressed with the drainage, the great foot
traction and commented that it was the best field they
had ever seen or played on in Australia or New Zealand!
