Many organizations understand the importance of being certified and staying current in technical industries like Information Technology and Telecommunications. In cabling, the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) is a great endorsement that shows its certified professionals are up-to-date in the cable telecommunications industry.
The SCTE is a non-profit professional association for the advancement of technology related to cable telecommunications engineering. Founded in 1969, SCTE has a membership of over 12,000 individuals. They are a great source for professional development, information, certification and standards. Two of the certifications apply to the novice technician, student or individual entering in the field; the Broadband Premise Installer (BPI) and the Broadband Premise Technicians (BPT) certifications. In order to receive the certification, a candidate should have professional training and successfully pass the exam which is provided and proctored by an SCTE representative, such as APSi.
The BPI & BPT certifications include entry-level and advanced stackable credentials which cover a variety of troubleshooting, installation, safety, processes, industry standards and customer service topics within telecommunications and fiber optic networks. Successfully passing the examinations will provide professionals a mobile credential that validates his/her knowledge to carry out broadband, premise and fiber optic tasks.
Every student who attends one of APSi's SCTE programs will learn the art of installing cabling aerial and buried, weatherproofing, test & termination, various cable plants, networking, customer premise equipment, use of hand tools, safety, bonding and grounding, customer service, and many other tasks associated with the industry. Prior to attempting the SCTE sanctioned exam, our students will be prepared by reviewing the classroom study material, and practicing various in course tasks with the instructor (40% our our program is hands on application).
