2013 – Newsletter 5
Dear Member,
The year is about to come to an end. We are all busy grading papers, writing
out reports and planning academic and social events. The APrIR EC
constitutes no exception. Time to round off and assess our performance.
And yet, as soon as the work appears to be done, the coming year surges
up with a bunch of new opportunities to serve our colleagues and encourage
yet more professional development.
Let these few words suffice as an introduction to a review of recent activities and as an
announcement of the ones to take place in the near future.
APrIR’s End of the Year Party
Many members and friends joined us to share in
the End of the Year Party held at Beatles
Memo, Bv. Oroño and Güemes last November
20th. In this dazzling venue Coro de Fisherton
gave the kick-off with their brilliant performance
of a short repertoire of Beatles’ music for an
evening of reminiscing and catching up, wellseasoned by delicious finger-food and pints – or
sodas.
We availed ourselves of the opportunity to pay
tribute to some teachers who have been staunch
supporters of our Association for many years and
have had a lasting impact on the teaching
profession, a new tradition started last year. This
year we selected Graciela Anderson, Lita
Miechi (unable to attend), Graciela Rinesi and
Nora Séculi.
The evening of merriment was drawn to a close
with a raffle of books and gym passes, courtesy
of Macmillan Publishers, Oxford University
Press, Ameghino Bookshop and Megatlón.
