6 State education Last February we were happy to receive Resolución Ministerial 127/16 granting graduates from the Primary school Teacher Education Programme the status of “Título habilitante” for secondary schools. This rule is based on (and quotes) the presentation submitted by APrIR in December 2014. We are aware that there are many other unfair situations in the state selection process, but for the first time our voice has been heard by government officials in a manner that has material results for teachers of English. Carina shared the activities that APrIR held last year and our plans for 2016 and brought back ideas and advice from colleagues in other associations. She also took to FAAPI APrIR’s approval to continue negotiations for FAAPI to join Confederación de Asociaciones y Federaciones Nacionales de Profesores de Lenguas Extranjeras (CAFANPLE) and Confederación Latino-Americana de Profesionales del Inglés (CLAPI), two networks of foreign language experts who intend to work together and widen horizons. In compliance with its statutes, the AGM elected half of the members of its EC.
