prestigious tournament would be held in Ireland
between July 28th and August 4th.

2013 European Schoolboy Championships
will be hosted by the Irish Amateur Boxing
Association”
The 2013 European Schoolboy Championships w ill
be the 11th edition of the tournament since the
inaugural event in Rome in 2003. Irelands
Schoolboys have won medals at every European
Schoolboy tournament and most recently at the
2012 Championship’s, with a record breaking 10
medals, three of which were gold, where Ireland
finished in second place in the medals table behind
the host nation Russia.

record in this tournament over the last
decade and the Irish Amateur Boxing
Association looks forward to welcoming
teams from throughout Europe to Ireland
this summer.”
Oliver McCarthy, James McGivern and Michael
Nevin finished on top of their respective podiums at
the Black Sea holiday resort.
We here at KO Monthly feel that this a great
opportunity for all young boxers and their coaches,
to come and see some of the finest talent from
across all of Europe, The IABA held the 2011
European Youth Championships in Citywest Hotel,
Dublin, which proved to be a great success.
Mr Franco Falcinelli, President of the European
Boxing Confederation, said that he was confident
that the IABA will once again organise a successful
event and added that he
looked forward to working
with the IABA in the lead
up to the Championships.
Tommy Murphy, President of the IABA, confidently
predicted that the 2013 Championships will be an
outstanding occasion for European boxing.
