Study Techniques
Studying is usually categorised as being stressful and tedious . This does not always have to be the case , as balance is the number one key factor to getting the most out of your study time . When you don ' t feel stressed , you are much more likely to be productive . Cramming everything in the night before tests or exams will only make you tired and stressed . This achieves nothing because the information will not enter long term memory . For example , Nate Kornell The University of California found that spacing out learning was more effective than cramming it all in at once for 90 % of students .
One useful tool to balance studying is having a timetable to organise and prioritise which subjects need revised . For example , Mondays could include an hour of Maths , Tuesdays English , Wednesdays Physics etc . This is also handy to note whatever else you have on during the week like clubs . This will ensure that you space out subjects and get more done . Finding your learning style is something that is not talked about enough . Everyone thinks and understands things differently-you could be a visual learner , logical , verbal etc . For instance , if you are a visual learner mind maps are a great way to lock in information . Sometimes annotated diagrams can be helpful to picture the information .
