Serendipity by Adria DeAngelis Veit Finding what you are passionate about in your life opens the numerous gates that we choose to keep closed. Day in and day out we partake in the same routines and wish to change our pattern. We even hear ourselves state the all too familiar comment, “There’s always tomorrow.” Change doesn’t have to wait until tomorrow! No one can make the decisions for us to allow the gates of our interests to open and seek out what we are passionate about. We are all passionate about many aspects of our lives; however, we block our free-spirit nature to experience the passion. It seems impossible because of all of the things we have to do. W e have all heard someone at one time or another as being referred to as a “free-spirit.” It really sounds admirable. It’s as if the person who makes the statement wishes they were able to describe themselves in that manner. A free-spirited person is often regarded as someone who lives by their own rules, one that follows the pattern they have created for their own life, or who doesn’t follow the protocol of how others feel they are supposed to live their lives. There is no doubt that we all have a desire to be free-spirited individuals. We are often held back by the numerous value systems that have been ingrained from our upbringing, or simply by the many facets of society that have dictated our lives in one way or another. There is a four letter word that often blocks our free-spirit and it is called fear. Fear stifles the many decisions of our lives where we know we can or would like to be free to make the choice, or choices, we want to. Yet, instead of choosing to be true to ourselves and be free of fear, we often choose to conform. Once again, we have allowed fear to win. It’s in conforming that our free spirit becomes dormant, waiting for the next opportunity to present itself. Free-spirited people have found a secret to living life. They understand what it means to be passionate about their lives. They understand the importance of their life. They own their lives and live in the moment not to miss one second of it. A person, who possesses the attributes of being regarded as a free-spirit, truly understands the meaning of passion. Imagine if we did not have a list to accomplish for the day, there were no guidelines to follow, and we were free of all responsibilities. What would we choose to do? The easy and obvious answer to this scenario: we would allow our free-spirit to come alive by doing what we want. At first, the freedom might feel odd, but once we make a few choices we quickly begin to understand that the choice(s) we make are the keys that unlock the gates of our lives we have kept closed. The passionate moments in our lives can be found in the smallest things. Passion is not measured on a grand scale. We will not find what we are passionate about by conforming. It’s time for all of us to stop admiring the person who lives their life as a free-spirit. We all have a free-spirit side inside of ourselves waiting for the gates of our lives to open and be set free. Life is meant to be lived and who better to share it with than yourself. May you find the passionate moments in your life by setting your beautiful spirit free! Adria DeAngelis Veit Intuitive Medium [email protected] eydismagazine.com | 43
